Wall Panel Installation

Installation Guide

FormEffects panels are sized and designed to allow for simple installation using a high strength epoxy adhesive. The adhesive product most recommended for wall panel installations is Laticrete Latapoxy 310 which allows for vertical installations up to 30 feet high. The following installation procedure is provided as an overview; individual expertise will still be required to apply this installation to your specific project.

Instructions

  1. Prepare the wall substrate to ensure the surface is clean and free of any debris or fasteners that would interfere with the panel installation.
  2. Determine the starting point of your panel installation. The installation should always begin with the bottom row, but the whether to start at the left, right, middle, or at a specific point on your wall elevation shall be chosen to best suit your specific project.
  3. Mark up the wall substrate using a chalk line and level to layout panel locations with spacing.
  4. Ensure when moving the panels that proper handling techniques are used . The precast panel should be lifted and handled in a vertical orientation.
  5. Prepare the panel to ensure the back surface is clean and free of any debris.
  6. Line up the first bottom row panel to your starting point and with the panel tilted away from the wall, apply the spot bonds of the Laticrete Latapoxy 310. Please refer to the product specification for proper mixing and application instructions.
  7. Apply the panel to the wall substrate and use a level to ensure the panel is installed straight and plumb. Shims should be used maintain a proper setting bed dimension.
  8. Repeat steps 5 through 7 across the bottom row ensuring each panel is installed level, plumb, and evenly space. If installing Coastal or Alpine panels with keyed seams, the panels should be dry fit first to ensure prop fitment with the adjacent panel.
  9. (Optional) A snap away joint leveling system can be used at the panel joints to help flush the panels out to each other.
  10. At the ends of the row or at specific wall conditions (door jamb or window jamb), cut the end panel to size. Please refer to our Cutting Instructions for a detailed guide on cutting the precast wall panels.
  11. Once the epoxy adhesive in the first row has set, begin to install the proceeding rows as you work vertically up the wall.
  12. The final row of panels interfacing with the ceiling must be cut to size according to the finished ceiling height (if applicable
  13. (Optional) With all the panels installed, an un-sanded silicone caulk such as Laticrete Latasil or TEC Accucolor can be used to fill in the joints in between panels. These products are offered in a wide range of colors to allow you to choose a product that closely matches the color of your panels. Carefully fill in the joints slowly and avoid any excess spilling onto the panel face as it will be difficult to clean off.
